Yuthok Nyingthig Lineage
The Yuthok Nyingthig, or "Heart Essence of Yuthok," is a unique Tibetan Buddhist system of practices founded by 12th-century physician and meditation master Yuthok Yönten Gönpo the Younger, considered an emanation of the Medicine Buddha. Known as the father of Tibetan medicine, Yuthok’s teachings merge Tibetan medical wisdom with a complete Vajrayana path aimed at spiritual and physical well-being. This Highest Yoga Tantra cycle spans from foundational practices to the advanced teachings of Mahamudra and Dzogchen, making it accessible for modern practitioners seeking both health benefits and spiritual liberation. Rooted in Sowa Rigpa, the Yuthok Nyingthig enhances diagnostic and healing abilities, integrating compassionate service with profound spiritual realization.

To embark on the path of the Yuthok Nyingthig lineage, practitioners are first introduced to three essential preparatory steps:
Wang (Empowerment): This is the formal initiation, where a qualified teacher transmits the blessings and authorizations needed to engage in the practices.
Lung (Reading Transmission): Here, the teacher recites the text aloud, transmitting the blessings and continuity of the lineage through the spoken words of the teaching.
Tri (Instruction or Teaching): This step involves receiving detailed teachings on the practices, guiding the practitioner on how to correctly approach and apply each stage.
Within the Tri (Instruction) step, practitioners engage in three distinct stages to internalize the teachings:
Tö (Listening Mindfully): Listening attentively to the teachings to fully absorb their meaning.
Sam (Understanding and Contemplating): Reflecting deeply on the teachings to cultivate a personal understanding.
Gom (Meditating and Habituating): Meditating on the teachings to instill them deeply within the mind, transforming understanding into direct experience.
Ngöndro (the preliminary or foundational practice) forms both the groundwork and entry point for the Yuthok Nyingthig. For beginners engaging with the Ngöndro, only the Lung (Reading Transmission) and Tri (Instruction) are needed to begin. This opens the door to self-paced practice, enabling practitioners to follow structured guidance as they become familiar with Yuthok Nyingthig Ngöndro and start building a foundation for further practice.
For those seeking a structured path, Drukmo Gyal Yogini offers self-paced teachings specifically on the Yuthok Nyingthig Ngöndro, providing access to this precious lineage and making the foundational practices available to contemporary practitioners.
